I have searched a long time for a saddle pad that does the job and that my horse likes. I found my horse to be softer and rounder while riding. What impressed me most was when I took off the saddle the back muscles where extremely soft and pliable.

Athletes Know It Works. Science Proves It Does.

World class athletes, including an Olympic Medalist, have been training in Holofiber™ products for over one year. As professional athletes, they want everything possible to help get the best performance. The experience has been extraordinary. Holofiber™ increases the recovery from muscle soreness, enabling them to compete more and in great shape.

A double blind clinical study recently proved that the effects of Holofiber™ to be compelling and significant. The study was conducted by Lawrence A. Lavery, DPM, MPH, an associate professor in the department of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation at a major university medical centre. Under the direction of Dr. Lavery, subjects with a history of diabetes and vascular impairment were evaluated. The results of Dr. Lavery's study, using products made with Holofiber™ and controlled non-Holofiber™ products, indicate measurably increased oxygen levels observed and recorded in the body and blood in subjects wearing the Holofiber™ products.

This testing demonstrated that there was a "Statistically significant change in transcutaneous oxygen - or the oxygen delivery to the skin - in hands and feet, on subjects wearing Holofiber™ gloves and socks compared to those wearing comparable non-Holofiber™ gloves and socks." "The significant changes observed are very compelling for this type of product.

An 8 to 12% improvement in skin oxygenation could increase marginal circulation enough to improve wound-healing or eliminate ischemic (localized tissue anemia due to obstruction of the inflow of arterial blood) pain of the legs," observed Dr. Lavery. But what is the value of Holofiber for the larger, “non-challenged” population? A study was done among healthy subjects, male and female, ages 18 to 50 (the mean age was 32.12 years). Thirteen subjects with no history of diabetes or other vascular disease were chosen, in a random sampling. They were evaluated using transcutaneous oxygen monitoring (a non-invasive technique). Subjects were requested not to drink any caffeinated substance (coffee, soft drinks) for two hours before the test, since caffeine causes vasoconstriction, reducing blood flow to the extremities. Wearing Holofiber textiles and placebo textiles, oxygen levels on the forearm and foot of the healthy population were observed to increase in the test, 29.97% in the forearm, and 10.18% in the foot. Non-diabetics obviously don’t have the same issues as diabetics regarding wound healing, but a greater perfusion of oxygenation for the general population means greater energy, and faster recovery from exertion.

What does this mean for your horse?

The physiology of human and equine cell structure and circulatory systems are very similar. Extensive equine testing is continuing to determine additional benefits. It is expected that at least the same levels of performance found in the Holofiber™ clinical study can apply to horses. The EquiCharge™ Oxygenated Energy Recovery System with Holofiber™ can increase the blood flow and transcutaneous oxygen transfer to the skin under the saddle pad. This area is typically traumatised by impaired blood flow and tissue damage.

The visual manifestation is known as white spots on the withers. The EquiCharge™ Oxygenated Energy Recovery System can greatly minimize the appearance of these white spots. Increased oxygen levels to the back of the horse can also result in improved metabolism, an increase in energy, as well as faster muscle recovery from exertion and strain caused by the rider and the saddle.

The competitive advantages of The EquiCharge™ Oxygen Energy Recovery System are equally compelling. Improved metabolism, increased blood circulation, increased energy and endurance, and faster muscle recovery are normally the result of drugs or supplements. Top level equestrian athletes and their riders (and those that simply want the best for their horse) want everything they can possibly find to help get the best performance possible.

Now, with The EquiCharge™ Oxygenated Energy Recovery System, there is no extra effort and it really benefits your horse. Riders in every discipline, endurance, reining, hunter/jumper, dressage, roping, cutting, eventing and reining, will find they have an unfair competitive advantage!

How does it work so well?

EquiCHARGE™ uses Holofiber™ to help increase the oxygenated blood levels of your horse. The statistically significant increase of blood flow and oxygen levels can eliminate localised tissue anemia due to the obstruction of inflow of arterial blood in human beings (in horses, white spots on the withers).

EquiCHARGE™ can turn your saddle pad into an oxygenated, energy, recovery system. Holofiber™ has been laboratory-tested in human beings to demonstrate an 8-30% improvement in skin oxygenation. A Smart Textile Engineered To Optimize Performance The EquiCharge™ Oxygenated Energy Recovery System for horses takes advantage of recent development of smart textiles that are engineered for performance. EquiCharge™ incorporates Holofiber™, a fibre based on rare earth elements.

Holofiber™ is optically responsive to wavelengths of ambient light as well as energy produced by the body. The mechanism involves interaction with cells that include the mitochondria (the power source of the cell), and influences increased oxygen levels in body tissues. This more readily available oxygen, can result in improved metabolism, an increase in energy as well as faster recovery from exertion.

EquiKOOL™

Equikool™ uses Comfortemp to lower the surface body temperature of your horse when under performance. Unlike membrane wicking fabrics that just transfer limited amounts of moisture, Equikool™ turns your saddle pad into an active cooling system

  • Temperature Management System
  • Keeps your horse cooler when it's hot and warmer when it's cold
  • Lowers body surface temperature by as much as 7 degrees
  • Turns your saddle pad into an active cooling system
  • Better than membrane wicking fabrics
  • Regulates the body surface temperature of your horse!

Equikool™ is laboratory-tested and field-proven to keep your horse 4 to 5 degrees cooler for extended periods of time. COMFORTEMP products contain millions of microspheres which are preset to a temperature appropriate for the product. When your horse's body temperature exceeds the preset temperature, the microspheres absorb the excess heat creating a cooling sensation. (Fig.1)

When your horse's body temperature drops below the preset temperature, the microspheres release stored heat to keep their body warm at cooler temperatures. (Fig.2)

Your horse's body heat and the ambient temperature continually recharge and recycle the microspheres to help keep your horse's temperature balanced and comfortable.

What is ConforPedic™?

ConforPedic™ Conforms To Your Horse!

Image

ConforPedic™ material becomes softer in warmer areas where your horse’s body is making the most contact with the surface and remains firmer in cooler areas where less body contact is being made.

Image

As your horse moves, the material rises and lowers to meet your horse’s back and your saddle…eventually filling any gaps along the contour of the back of your horse and your saddle. As the material molds to your horse’s and saddle’s shape, your horse is protected from the potential rubbing of your saddle's bars as you benefit from a more comfortable ride.

How Does ConforPedic™ Protect Your Horse?

Image

Acting like a very thick fluid, ConforPedic™ material doesn’t compress in the classic sense, it absorbs and redistributes the load. ConforPedic™, like other fluid or fluid-like materials, is also reactive to heat and pressure. It becomes significantly softer and flows more readily when the material is warmed close to body temperature than the material which remains at ambient temperature. This variable degree of viscoelastic stiffness results in the material moulding to the body. Body weight is so effectively distributed over the body contact area that gross pressure is markedly reduced to therapeutic levels.

Although there are obviously variances in interface pressure at different parts of the body, the pressure is distributed so evenly that there are minimal pressure spikes. Pressure spikes can result in high pressure gradients which can be measured by using certain pressure mapping systems. It is these gradients that work like “dams” which shunt blood flow and affect tissue perfusion. The larger the gradient, the more likely there will be tissue damage over time.

A Material Unlike Any Other ConforPedic™ impact reduction material is a breakthrough in equestrian technology that will forever change the way your horse performs.

The original formula was developed in the early 1970's at NASA's Ames Research Centre in an effort to relieve astronauts of the incredible g-forces experienced during lift-off. Aero Corporation spent almost a decade and millions of dollars researching and experimenting with the NASA material before discovering a way to produce a consistent and durable product. ConforPedic™ material is a high density, fluid-like viscoelastic, open-celled, breathable media. Similar to bed foams like Tempur-Pedic, but developed for military and aircraft impact reduction applications, it is unlike any other impact reduction material on the market.

The cellular structure of the ConforPedic™ impact reduction material™ is completely different. It's made up of billions of high density, viscoelastic, memory cells. The cells are spherical with windows, and the key is…they're temperature sensitive. In warm areas, they get softer and pliable. In cooler areas, they stay firm. The cells will literally shift position and reorganize to conform to your horse’s body contours.

What Is Viscoelastic?

1. Visco: resistant to change of shape.

2. Elastic: able to return to its original shape after being forced to change.

Imagine lying on a surface that knows exactly how far to let you "sink in" so that every point on the contour of your body is supported. The surface then "flows" back to its original, flat shape… much like pushing your hand into the surface of a bowl of water. The water would flow to fill every contour and crease of your hand, then return to its original shape once your hand is removed. The most common material used in other saddle pads is high resilience (HR) foam. When a load is applied, HR foam compresses. At some point, the resistance to compression exceeds the weight/force of the load being applied and the foam begins to “push back”. Since this resistance is not uniformly distributed, (the horse’s body has curves and angles) pressure spikes result.
